Getting Your Scholarship Money

Congrats on being selected for an AFA Leader and Academic Scholarship! Here’s what you need to know about receiving your money:

• On the request form, you must provide a copy of a billing statement from your university for tuition, fees or books that show your outstanding balance or payment by you (or your loans)

  • Be sure to include your name, student ID number and school’s name or insignia

• The deadlines for requesting funds are:

  • Fall Semester Deadline: September 1

  • Spring Semester Deadline: February 1

• All scholars must attend the AFA Leaders Conference in the year your scholarship was awarded

How Do I Get My Scholarship Money?

Step 1: Submit a Scholarship Request Form by

• Fall Semester: September 1

• Spring Semester: February 1

Step 2: Complete the form and include an attachment of your university billing statement.

• Billing Statement Requirements:

  • Your name AND student I.D. number.

  • Your school's name or insignia.

  • A detailed list of charges for your own cost of tuition, fees, and/or books charged through the university with a balance shown.

Step 3: Submit the form.

Step 4: Watch your inbox. AFA will email you payment updates. This process takes a minimum of three weeks.

Other policies:

• The AFA scholarship is a one-time scholarship

• The AFA scholarship will not cover room and board expenses.

• Scholars must request funds while enrolled as a full time student.

• Funds are dissolved after completion of a bachelor’s degree; if not requested before graduation, or if proof of balance owed is insufficient.

• Student must continue to meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Pursue a bachelor’s degree

• Study agriculture or related field

• Scholars must request funds while enrolled as a full-time student

• Remain in good academic standing with the university

• Maintain full-time class status
